04/10/2025 – DNS Texas is deploying an easier way to report phishing or spam emails.  Note: you must have message preview enabled.  If you have preview disabled, the report spam button may not appear.

In supported versions of Outlook, the ‘fish hook’ Report Spam icon will appear.

In webmail a line will appear above the message preview.

To use, simply select the message that you feel is phishing or spam and click the ‘Report Spam’ button.   This will submit the message with full message headers to the DNS Texas NOSPAM account.  You no longer need to forward messages to [email protected] when you use this new feature.  After submitted, the message will be removed from your inbox.

Why use this instead of simply forwarding to nospam directly?  When you forward a message, the headers are lost – spammers are clever and the headers are where our best chances of blocking bad messages are.  Using the new ‘Report Spam’ feature snaps the email along with the headers to better assist with future blocking and training of the system to identify patterns.

If you have questions, feel free to [open a support ticket] and we will work with you directly.  Those on very old versions of Microsoft Office (2010 and older) may not be able to use this feature and will have to continue forwarding to [email protected]
